The main driving factor of Vaadin's success is you, our developer community. With Vaadin 10 is in beta, we’ve seen a lot of new people evaluating Vaadin. To welcome everyone, I want to review the ways you can get help and talk with others in the community.
The Vaadin forum
Vaadin has always had an active forum for community members. It's a place where you can get help or discuss new ideas with Vaadin employees.
The forum is a good place for in-depth questions that may include lots of code. There's also a chance that someone has already answered the problem you have. The forum search is your friend.
We recently rolled out a new version of the forum, that we built with Vaadin 10. The update makes the forum experience much faster. We also added support for markdown with code highlighting.
GitHub repositories
If you run into a bug in one of our products or have a feature request, please file a ticket for it in GitHub. This way, the development team can keep track of it, and we'll notify you of any updates to the issue. Please search through the existing issues before submitting a new one. You may find existing tickets with workarounds, and you can help us out by adding more information to the issue.
Community chat on Gitter
Sometimes the structure of the forum can be too much. We now have a Gitter community for quick informal chatting. Chat with developers in product channels, or chat 1-to-1 with other community members. You can join with your GitHub or Twitter account and start chatting immediately.
Expert chat
Both the forum and chat are community driven. Vaadin team members and community members will often be able to help. But we cannot guarantee that every question gets answered. If you need to share code under NDA, a public forum isn’t the best place either.
Vaadin Expert Chat gives you a direct and confidential way to chat with Vaadin Experts. Expert Chat is a part of the Vaadin Prime subscription. You can also transition from chatting to Development on Demand if you want us to help you with the issue hands-on.
In addition to all these channels, we’re also monitoring our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
