Vaadin (perfectly containerized) on Raspberry Pi (Zero 2 W)

Has anybody else built any home automation solutions with Vaadin? I had a series of flu’s in the beginning of the year, too much time to spend online shopping various electronics to and my project got bit out of hands  But i has been superfan and my cleartly most improtant Vaadin project at the moment is the BBQ smoker automation system :sunglasses:

I did a “cold tests” last week and now essentially waiting for a warmer weather to install it (I need +5° for to cast the pipe through the brick wall).

Included tehnology:

  • Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W (with mighty 512mb of memory)
  • Quarkus server with Vaadin (25.1.0-beta3) UI
  • Pi4J library for accessing thermometer data and controlling actuators
  • Bluetooth for additional thermometers
  • Old chainsaw carborator and a wine bottle box
  • Microservo and 12v blower motor

I’ll be showcasing what the beast does and covering what I learned while building it on Thursday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN1N8r1xy6I
