On V8 works fine, at least there is no more gaps in the grid.
Would be great if the empty space could be distributed between all the columns that have an expansion set, or we could choice which column should be resized (not always the last)

On V7.7.13 doesn’t work at all, the only method accessible is .setAutoResizeWidth(true) but nothing happens

Thanks for feedback. Those are interesting features to be added, could you add ticket about them in issue tracker. Regarding your point about Vaadin 7 version, that is true, I have not had time to backport the new features to it.
