Before the summer, we organized a competition for visitors to the Vaadin Expo booth. We received a nice number of fun entries and the winner was chosen among those. This turned out to be very successful, and we’re planning to do it again in the second half of the yer.

ThreadCity — an interactive traffic map for Java threads
I built ThreadCity, a Vaadin Flow incident-analysis tool that turns Java thread dumps into an interactive map showing exactly which threads are blocking one another.
It parses HotSpot thread dumps, reconstructs lock ownership and waiting relationships, detects deadlocks, groups repeated stack traces, and presents everything in a visual operations dashboard.
A quick way to explore it:
Start the application.
Select Replay a production deadlock.
Follow the animated lock lanes.
Use Time machine to move from healthy traffic through contention and into deadlock.
Inspect the thread evidence or compare the broken and corrected snapshots.
ThreadCity uses Vaadin AppLayout, SideNav, Tabs, Grid, Master-Detail Layout, Split Layout, Upload, Messages, and server Push.
