AppJars Data Query - Vaadin Add-on Directory
Runtime reporting for Vaadin apps: turn stored SQL, HQL or REST queries into parameter forms, grids, charts, dashboards and PDF reports without code or redeploys. Commercial AppJar with a free mode.> **Licensing:** this add-on is a thin wrapper licensed under **Apache 2.0**. It contains no code of its own and simply pulls in the **Data Query AppJar** modules, which are **commercial software** distributed under the [AppJars Software License Agreement](https://www.appjars.com/legal/license/v1/). You can use Data Query for free in **free mode** (up to 5 queries that users can open and 1 dashboard; intermediate queries in a chain do not count). A license removes all limits. See [Licensing](https://docs.appjars.com/licensing/).
**Data Query** turns stored query definitions into complete reporting screens for your application, with an administration UI built with Vaadin Flow. Administrators define a query once, with its data source, parameters and result columns, and Data Query generates the parameter form, the results grid, charts and drill-down navigation. New reports are published at runtime, without Java code or a redeploy.
## Features
- **Query definitions without code:** a single definition bundles the connector, the query text, its parameters and its result columns, and drives the grid, the export, the chart and the printed report.
- **Three data connectors:** query the application database over JDBC (*SQL*), your JPA entities with code completion (*HQL*), or an external service whose JSON response is mapped to rows (*REST API*).
- **Type-aware parameters:** each parameter renders the matching field (date picker, combo box, multi-select), with fixed defaults or *value generators* such as the current date, the current user or another query's results.
- **Query chaining:** dependent queries run in order and write into temporary tables the next query reads, driven by the single parameter form the user sees.
- **Charts, drill-down and dashboards:** bar, line, area, pie, donut or scatter charts; clickable cells and chart elements that open a target query; dashboards that compose several queries on one page.
- **Visual report designer:** lay out title, header, detail, group and footer bands and generate PDF documents from any query definition.
## Installation
If your project doesn't declare it yet, add the Vaadin add-ons repository:
```xml
vaadin-addons
https://maven.vaadin.com/vaadin-addons
```
Add the dependency. The wrapper declares the AppJars repository (`https://maven.appjars.com`), so Maven resolves the modules automatically:
```xml
org.vaadin.addons.appjars
appjars-data-query
1.0.1
```
- **Gradle** ignores repositories declared in dependency POMs, so add `maven { url "https://maven.appjars.com" }` to your repositories.
- **Nexus/Artifactory mirroring everything (`mirrorOf *`):** your administrator needs to add a proxy for `https://maven.appjars.com`.
Then follow the [Getting started guide](https://docs.appjars.com/data-query/getting-started/).
## Requirements
- Java 21
- Vaadin 25.2
- Spring Boot 4.1
- JPA / Hibernate
- Spring Security, with the query management views restricted to administrators ([details](https://docs.appjars.com/data-query/developer-guide/#restricting-access-to-the-management-views))
## Included dependencies

These modules transitively bring in the rest of the Data Query modules and `appjars-*-utils` (same commercial license), plus open-source libraries such as Vaadin add-ons by Flowing Code (Apache 2.0).

AppJars Data Query version 1.0.1
A patch release, with two fixes in the query editor and the results grid.
#### Fixes
- **Testing a REST request** in the query editor no longer blocks the UI: the request runs in the background and the dialog shows a progress indicator until the response arrives.
- The **grid export footer** stays opaque on Vaadin 25, so result rows no longer show through the export toolbar while hovering or scrolling.
