Showcase« Back to Who Is Using Vaadin
Arcusys's VAHTIE is a feedback and quality management tool for collating quality surveys from organizations operations. The system was originally built for measuring the quality of university education, based on student feedback. Currently the system can be used for conducting surveys for wide variety of purposes, ie. measuring client satisfaction.
VAHTIE is built using Liferay Portal Platform and Vaadin components.
The system helps organizations to gather valuable data from their focus groups, for example for improving their actions, performance, and interact with focus groups. The main benefit compared to other survey systems is the open source background and Liferay tools -> the system can be tailored to suit more specific needs of the customer or organization. The system can be integrated to other information systems, to provide part of the valuable data from the surveys and part from the other systems (for example from reporting systems) and collating these to provide reporting needed.
The very first development sprint showed that Vaadin fits perfectly for agile development model. It was decided that the project will be implemented on continuous delivery basis and the team had to invest on systematic continuous regression and acceptance testing. The team was expecting to have lots of extra QA iterations due to high expectations on the project: the user interface needed to be modern, easy-to-learn and use, good looking, responsive and it had to support about 95% of web browsers on the target audience. Results were excellent, all the requirements were fulfilled from the beginning and regardless of the agile continuous delivery model, the number of regression issues was remarkably low. The "time to market" on new features or feature changes was unprecedented fast and the team could focus on the essential -- which is not typical in complex portal projects.
"Vaadin let's me concentrate on actual high level creative problem solving instead of having to spend valuable time on menial basic coding work."
