We have customers in countries with cyrillic fonts and this is confusing circumstance.
How to replace fonts (with same names) in custom theme based on Valo without Vaadin patching?
Hi, I asked Jouni about this a while ago and he said he might have been a bit too minimalistic (and Western-biased) when generating the bundled fonts to keep the file size as small as possible. He can probably shed light on how to build more comprehensive font files to use with Valo.

As Johannes mentioned, I did only include Latin subsets of the fonts to keep them lighter.
There’s an open ticket about
using your own font files
for the embedded fonts, but it’s still open. I wrote a workaround as a comment in the ticket.
