No and no 
Don’t be afraid of the alpha release, the add-on is in active use in our own projects. A development sprint on the CDI add-on is about to start now, so we should get rid of that alpha postfix soon In case you have suggestions for improvements, be sure to add them soon to
dev.vaadin.com
.
The only “alternative” I’d mention is the new Spring integration library being worked by
Petter Holmström and Josh Long
