I think that should be fine having the possibilty to search some key words in forums.
The search field on the top right of the page also searches in the forums.
The search function doesn’t work in google chrome. Tried in IE and there it worked.

Just after i posted this, i noticed the stack trace mentioned ghostery. This is an extension i use to filter out social plugins when browsing. This was the culprit. Turning off the google-ajax-api blocker solved the problem.
I just spent 5 minutes looking for the forum search feature as well.
I would also agree that it would be nice to have a search that searched just the forums or at the least put search button on the forum that still does a gobal search. At leat then newbie’s wouldn’t have to go looking for something that doesn’t exist.
