It would be nice if we could sent PM’s to other Vaadin users.
Sometimes I would like to ask via PM. Would it be an idea to add this to the Vaadin forum?

Good idea. This is a standard feature that any forum software should have.
While there might be occasional use for this, in my opinion there are two fundamental problems as well: private messages and any information in them is of no help to other users who might stumble upon a thread that started the discussion, and this kind of a feature very easily gets overused or abused.
There are also other channels such as the Vaadin Skype and IRC chats that may help getting a more private discussion with another developer started, and there is always the option of paid support for urgent consultations.
