We're looking to move away from Flex for our Front end interface and are considering using Vaadin. Currently we're trying to assess whether it is suitable for us?
We currently use Flex with AMFPHP and have all our middleware services written in PHP which then connect to the database. Looking at Vaadin it seems to be setup somewhat differently with the UI components connecting directly to the database, often using Hibernate. However, we want to keep our PHP services scripts and just swap the front end. Is it possible for us to do this and if so how? I think it might be possible to do this with some JSON classes in Vaadin, but not sure presently. Could someone suggest what the setup would be like and what Vaadin classes / components this setup would utilise?
Many thanks, Mike
P.S. I tried to connect to Vaadin Skype conversation to ask questions and this failed to connect. I also got no response from anyone in irc.
