Just like the “bell” and “bell-slash” icons can be used to signify that whatever the bell represent is enabled or disabled (or on/off, active/inactive, etc…), it would be useful if, together with the “filter” icon, there was also a “filter-slash” icon.
In this way, the actions of applying or removing a filter could be represented with homogenous styles.
