Vaadin Designer - failed to load widgetset

Hello, I’m new to Vaadin. I’m using version 2.0.1.201105170102 of the Vaadin Eclipse plugin on Ubuntu 12.04 (Eclipse Juno).

I successfully created a new Vaadin Composite using the wizard but have since run into two issues:

  1. When I click on the Design tab I get the following error:

Failed to load the widgetset:/VAADIN/widgetsets/com.vaadin.visualdesigner.server.VisualDesignerApplicationWidgetset/
com.vaadin.visualdesigner.server.VisualDesignerApplicationWidgetset.nocache.js?1354207443884

I start Eclipse from the terminal and get the following output at this point:

[color=#1b0ceb]

  1. If I then switch from the Design tab to the Source tab and back again to the Design tab, I then get the following error in the Design pane:

Unable to load page
Problem occurred while loading the URL http://localhost:37709/
Cannot resolve proxy hostname ()

Does anyone have some idea how I can fix this set-up issue? Thank you.

Clive

Please try updating to latest experimental build of Visual Designer. Just set the plugin repository to http://vaadin.com/eclipse/experimental and install vaadin plugin from there.

Thank you for the quick reply, Joonas. I have now updated to version 2.0.1.201211280958 of the Vaadin plugin. The two error messages are still generated. If I use my system web browser (i.e. not the Eclipse browser), I can see the Designer at http://localhost:[Jetty port number here]
.

Sounds strange. This should not happen. I would try the plugin with a clean eclipse installation to see if the problem lies in there.

I tried the same project on another instance of Eclipse (plugin version 2.0.1.201105170102) and the Designer works fine there, so I must have a dirty Eclipse installation on the other machine. Thanks Joonas!
