Rich Text Editor

There is no Java API to customize the Toolbar in the Rich text Editor. Any ideas how to custimize the Component (Vaadin 14.0.15) ?

Thanks
Dieter

This feature does not exist in the web component yet either. You can use CSS to hide some of the controls/buttons, but you can’t add any new ones.

any pointers to the documentation ?

here the solution:

in the Java file:
@CssImport(value=“./styles/richtexteditor.css”, themeFor=“vaadin-rich-text-editor”)

the use e.g. in Chrome the inspector and look for the elements (extenden Vaadin documentation…).
The css file looks like that (if its perfect, no idea, but it works for us):

[part~=“toolbar-group-history”]
{
// display: none;
}

[part=“toolbar-button toolbar-button-undo”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-emphasis”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-heading”]
{
// display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-button-h3”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-glyph-transformation”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-list”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-alignment”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-rich-text”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-block”]
{
display: none;
}

[part~=“toolbar-group-format”]
{
display: none;
}

any comments welcome
