Error notification displays without close box

The Book of Vaadin states that notifications of type ERROR_MESSAGE should display a “close box” in their upper-right corner. When I display such a notification with this code:

new Notification(errorLabel, errorMessage, Notification.Type.ERROR_MESSAGE, true).show(Page.getCurrent()); it does not display that close box, which is confusing for users. The window is modal and shows up in red, so it seems to be an ERROR_MESSAGE.
I am using vaadin 7.3.9 and a custom theme derived from Valo. I have not modified the notification styles in any way. Could anyone suggest a solution?

I’ve ended up using a regular Window with the following styles. The r-errorNotification style is assigned to the Window-derived class, while the r-errorNotificationMessage is assigned to the label showing the error message.

    $r-error-indicator-border-color: darken($v-error-indicator-color, 20%);
    .r-errorNotification
    {
        padding: 5px;
        color: white;
        background-color: $v-error-indicator-color;
        border: 2px solid $r-error-indicator-border-color;
        border-radius: 4px;
        .v-window-header
        {
            color: white;
            background-color: $v-error-indicator-color;
        }
        .v-window-maximizebox
        {
            color: $v-error-indicator-color;
            background-color: $v-error-indicator-color;
            height: 0px !important;
        }
        .v-window-closebox
        {
            color: white;
            background-color: $v-error-indicator-color;
        }
        .v-window-contents > .v-scrollable:before
        {
            border-style: none;
        }
    }
    .r-errorNotificationMessage
    {
        padding: 2px;
        color: white;
        background-color: $v-error-indicator-color;
    }
