Default Year/Month for PopupDateField

When the user clicks on the PopupDateField, I would like for it to start at a given year/month. For example, suppose that it is expected that the date will be in March, 2017. I would like the calendar to initially open at that month and year if there is no value yet for the date. But I can’t restrict the user with a range. They need to be able to move forward or backward without restriction. Is this possible?

I would either call setValue, when you enter the view that PopupDateField is in (if it’s value is null), or make a custom component, with a textfield + button wrapped in a layout, and on click/focus I would display a Window with an InlineDateField. That way you can control all the things.
