Best way to keep up Spring Auditing entries

when I write a method like

   @Query("update Unit u set u.unitName = :unitName, u.shortName = :shortName where = :id")
   int updateUnitNameAndShortNameById(@Param("unitName") String unitName, @Param("shortName") String shortName, @Param("id") Long id);```
it updated only the necessary column and also avoids an additonal ``SELECT`` querybut the problem I'm loosing spring audit entry values update like last_modified_by.
so the only solution is to go with the default JPA save method ?

so far I see, the default JPA save method is the only way to keep spring audit entries keep updating
