> **Licensing:** this add-on is a thin wrapper licensed under **Apache 2.0**. It contains no code of its own and simply pulls in the **Activity Log AppJar** modules, which are **commercial software** distributed under the [AppJars Software License Agreement](https://www.appjars.com/legal/license/v1/). You can use Activity Log for free in **free mode** (up to 100 log records saved per day; live mode requires a license). A license removes all limits. See [Licensing](https://docs.appjars.com/licensing/). **Activity Log** turns your application's log stream into a persistent, searchable audit trail, with an administration UI built with Vaadin Flow. Define rules to capture the business events that matter, let administrators filter and investigate them, and keep the database under control with automatic retention policies. ## Features - **Smart stream extraction:** define *extractors* that capture specific events from the log stream and persist them, ignoring irrelevant noise. - **Dynamic log views:** create views with their own URLs at runtime, each with preconfigured filters (e.g. "Payment errors" or "User logins"). - **Purpose-built viewers:** each view chooses its columns and exposed filters, so developers and auditors can read the same data differently. - **Advanced filtering and search:** by timestamp, level, logger, session or message content. - **Automated retention:** *removers* delete old records by age and level (e.g. keep errors for a year, info for 30 days). - **Live mode:** follow new events in real time with Vaadin server push (licensed feature). ## Installation Add the dependency. The wrapper declares the AppJars repository (`https://maven.appjars.com`), so Maven resolves the modules automatically: ```xml org.vaadin.addons.appjars appjars-activity-log 2.1.0 ``` - **Gradle** ignores repositories declared in dependency POMs, so add `maven { url "https://maven.appjars.com" }` to your repositories. - **Nexus/Artifactory mirroring everything (`mirrorOf *`):** your administrator needs to add a proxy for `https://maven.appjars.com`.
