The last month can be summarized as Vaadin 7.1.2, some not yet released fixes and some internal fiddling and brainstorming. That was easy. Anything else?

With no exciting concrete news to report, I’ll instead take a more human approach. I’m happy to announce a 33% increase in the manpower of the framework development team. Henrik Paul has been in the company’s ranks for a long time, concentrating on stuff like newsletters and Vaadin applications running on our web site, e.g. implementing our new Vaadin-based forum. He will now get an excellent opportunity to fix problems that annoyed him while working with those applications.

The second addition is Patrik Lindström who joined the company a couple of months ago and has been in our team since finishing his introductory project. He blew everyone’s mind earlier this year when he came to our headquarters to demo a 2d game engine based on Vaadin, that he had developed for a university course. It didn’t take long before a job interview was scheduled and the rest is history. He’s also the first employee to realize that an animated starfield is indeed a crucial part of the introductory project UI.

I’m also excited to let you know that the last details for the agenda of the GWT.create conference are about to be finished. I won’t go into any details since it is yet to be officially published. I can, however, tell you that yours truly as well as Artur Signell will be on location in both cities to represent the Vaadin Development Team, in addition to the other Vaadin employees who will also host sessions and take care of the arrangements.

That’s all for now. Next month’s update will hopefully have some news about Vaadin 7.2 and specifically the new table component that is rumored to be the main feature of that release. We have just started to think about how to approach this challenge, and we will hopefully have some news to share in a month.
