It is time to continue our series of community highlights. In case you missed the first episode: we’ll be briefly covering various Vaadin related topics from the interwebs that you might miss by following just our blog or newsletter. To be presented in the next episodes, do or write something cool related to Vaadin and be active on our forum or social media. Feel free to suggest topics by commenting below as well.

Valo, the upcoming new theme, seems to be a hot topic among Vaadin users. In a previous episode we presented the dawn addon to precompile it ahead of the official release. Sven Ruppert has also posted another solution to enjoy this fabulous new theme today.

Geertjan Wielenga has been working with a series of nice interviews about IT experts who use Vaadin together with NetBeans to efficiently solve complex business requirements. Bruno Freitas and Alejandro Duarte have been already covered, so contact Geertjan on twitter in case you’re using NetBeans as well. Even though you wouldn’t be actively searching for your next favourite IDE, these articles give you nice insights on how other experts are using Vaadin in their daily work.

The ZeroTurnaround folks, our friends from the opposite side of the Gulf of Finland, have published their results of the yearly query to Java developers. This is probably no news to anybody, but Vaadin is becoming a more and more common tool among Java developers. Based on their query, Vaadin is already used by 16% of Java developers (up from 7% in 2012)!

Oliver Damm from akquinet has written a yet another Vaadin CDI + MVP article last autumn. The article is in German, but the clean example project backing up the article is something you can go through without fluent German knowledge. In case you have those German skills, you might also be interested in an article related to “Internet of Things” aka MQTT and Vaadin by Florian Pirchner.
